The Association of Certified Translators Graduates of the Ionian University Department of Translation and Interpretation asked me to share one of the most interesting findings from my PhD research.
What excited me most? Translators’ business performance is multidimensional and the knowledge gaps affecting it can be addressed through education!
My research identified challenges such as:
• Difficulty negotiating fees
• Low visibility
• Weak business positioning
These highlight opportunities to teach business skills at university and beyond, supporting both new and experienced freelance translators and interpreters.
